5 Products for Weekend Skin Recovery

We all know how refreshing and vitalising the weekend is, particularly after a busy, stressful week. Who doesn’t love to sleep in, eat a wholesome breakfast (waffles and ice cream, anyone?) and spend time with loved ones? But few of us give a thought to the nourishment of our skin. Even a mini-facial at home, with the right products, can give us that fresh-from-the-salon feeling. And after testing out these products myself, I am excited to share them with you!

1. Special Cleaning Gel – Dermalogica

A clear, light formula to clean and purify the skin. This gentle cleanser comes from a familiar yet renowned brand and is pretty much great for all skin types. It doesn’t leave a tight or soapy feeling in the skin, and is even gentle enough to use over the eye area.

2. Daily Microfoliant – Dermalogica

Tiny rice-based particles rubbed gently into the skin manually remove any excess, dry debris. It is gentle enough to use daily, and leaves the skin feeling smoother and looking brighter.

3. Balancing Lotion – Bio Pacific

This is an extremely underrated brand – Bio Pacific is hands down the best brand of skin care I’ve ever used. The range is not overly expensive for the amount of product you receive, which goes a long way. You can also see the expertise of this brand in its choice of core ingredient: Aloe Barbadensis or, for us regular folk, Aloe Vera. Most skin care products will have “Aqua” or “Water” listed as their first (and therefore main) ingredient. Bio Pacific stands out with an element much more suited to nourishing skin.

This Balancing Lotion is extremely gentle – enough to be used on the eye area. Rather a refreshing liquid, it quickly works with your skin to return it to a normal pH level – imperative for allowing subsequent products to perform their best.

4. Antioxidant Hydrating Cream – Yuva

Granted, this is only a sample – but don’t be fooled by its small size! This moisturiser packs a huge, hydrating punch. It gently tingles on dry areas when applied, a sure sign that the active ingredients are working to nourish the skin. With Argan, Avocado and Macadamia Nut Oils, White Tea, Co-Enzyme Q10, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamins A and E, this product has everything you’d want from a moisturiser and more.

5. Total Eye Care – Dermalogica

Another economist from Dermalogica, this cream brings a total restoration to the eye area by brightening and tightening. The shade of the cream is also helpful as a colour corrector under the eyes – cancelling out the blue-tones often lurking after a late night. It feels light and therapeutic instantly – giving the eye area a much needed lift.

    1. Hey! 🙂 As I said, it’s quite nice – leaves a nice lift to the eyes, and I like applying it before makeup because not only is it great care for my eye area, the colour cancels out some of the blue-under-eye tones 🙂
